Isycoed Community Council
Isycoed Community Council maintain a small rural village situated on the Wales-England border of the river Dee by the name of Isycoed. It is located on the B5130, has as its neighbours the communities of Sesswick, Abenbury and Holt and is in the Wrexham County Borough Council electoral ward of Holt. Isycoed is also commonly known as Bowling Bank, a name from by-gone days when the village was made up of townships , of which Bowling Bank was part of the township of Sutton. Other townships included places such as Dutton-y-Brain, Cacca Dutton, Ridley, and Dutton Diffaeth, with some of these names surviving in present day addresses. Is-y-coed is served by its well supported School (St. Paul's Voluntry Aided ) , Church (St. Paul's), Village Inn ( The Naggs Head ) and Village Hall, and continues to hold traditional events such as Rushbearing (July ) and a gymkhana and Fete ( August).
