Welcome to Isycoed Community Council

Isycoed Community Council maintain a small rural village situated on the Wales-England border of the river Dee by the name of Isycoed. It is located on the B5130, has as its neighbours the communities of Sesswick, Abenbury and Holt and is in the Wrexham County Borough Council electoral ward of Holt. Isycoed is also commonly known as Bowling Bank, a name from by-gone days when the village was made up of townships , of which Bowling Bank was part of the township of Sutton. Other townships included places such as Dutton-y-Brain, Cacca Dutton, Ridley, and Dutton Diffaeth, with some of these names surviving in present day addresses. Is-y-coed is served by its well supported School (St. Paul's Voluntry Aided ) , Church (St. Paul's), Village Inn ( The Naggs Head ) and Village Hall, and continues to hold traditional events such as Rushbearing (July ) and a gymkhana and Fete ( August).

Is-y-coed Community Council is made up of eight members
and holds its monthly meetings in the committee room of Isycoed Village Hall. Besides discussing agenda items, the Council is required to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the Village Hall and playing-field. Meetings are also attended, if possible, by the local Constable and PCSO who give a monthly update on any Police matters. Members of the public are allowed to attend these meetings but are only allowed to take part at the discretion of the Chair.
